Kaepernick to remain 49ers’ starter

Colin Kaepernick’s benching in a 26-6 loss to the Chicago Bears won’t carry over into the San Francisco 49ers’ next game.

Offensive coordinator Curtis Modkins announced Tuesday that Kaepernick would remain the team’s starter for Sunday’s game against the New York Jets. Coach Chip Kelly had stepped away from the team to be with his family following the death of his father.

Kelly said after the game that he sat Kaepernick when the team trailed 24-6 because the inclement weather caused the ball to be slick when coming out of the quarterback’s hands. Kaepernick attempted just five passes for 4 yards.

Maclin returns to practice

Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Jeremy Maclin was a full participant at practice Tuesday after the wide receiver missed the previous four games with a groin injury.
