One of sports’ most prolific power couples has put a ring on it.
New Jersey Devils defenseman P.K. Subban and retired skier Lindsey Vonn are engaged, the couple announced Friday.
“Right off the bat, I knew he was different,” Vonn said in a Vogue article that coincided with the engagement announcement. “But I’d been married before, so I was pretty hesitant to let myself think that I could find someone that I would want to be married to again. After a few months of dating, I knew he was the one I wanted to be with, though. He makes me happy, and he’s so positive and energetic.”
Subban, who was traded to the Devils by the Nashville Predators this offseason, has established himself as an elite defenseman during his 10-year career. Vonn, 34, won three Olympic medals – one gold – in downhill skiing, while holding the record for most medals at a World Championships by an American with eight (two gold).
Subban, 30, proposed last month at the couple’s Los Angeles home, according to Vogue, with an emerald ring – since green is Vonn’s favorite color and it’s his birthstone.
