Of all the Sacramento Kings’ problems over the recent years, the frequent friction between franchise centerpiece DeMarcus Cousins and his coach has been on the short list.

There was Paul Westphal (constant clashing when his tough love approach didn’t work), Keith Smart (who started strong in connecting with Cousins but faded late), Mike Malone (who mostly succeeded but was famously run out of town), Tyrone Corbin (who got the substitute teacher treatment as an interim), and George Karl (who wanted Cousins traded after his agents tried to railroad his hiring and was at odds with him for much of their time together).
