In an interview with Vogue published Wednesday, Rihanna said she turned down the opportunity to perform in last year’s Super Bowl halftime show in Atlanta. The Grammy winning singer confirmed she did so to stand in solidarity with quarterback Colin Kaepernick.

When asked about the Super Bowl halftime offer — Maroon 5 was the show’s headliner — Rihanna said she “absolutely” turned it down.
