Shots were fired at Toronto’s Nathan Phillips Square during the Raptors’ NBA championship parade on Monday afternoon, the Toronto Police Operations Centre announced on Twitter.

“Reports of woman shot. People running from area. Police/EMS are on scene. Unknown what the injuries are,” the tweet read.

About 30 minutes later, the police provided the following update:

“Police have located 2 victims. Injuries serious but not life threatening. 2 people in custody. 2 firearms recovered. Investigating.”

Videos shared on social media show thousands of people running in panic.
