President Trump declared support for peaceful dissent, yet he attacked NFL players for taking a knee and is now calling on force to quell protesters.

President Donald Trump declared himself an “ally of all peaceful protesters” during a speech — truthfully, it was more like a screed — in the Rose Garden on Monday night. This would be the same President Donald Trump who once called Colin Kaepernick and other NFL players who protested “sons of bitches,” and demanded team owners fire them. Labeled those exercising a bedrock principle of our country as “disgraceful” and said Kaepernick should find another country.
Squandered taxpayer money by sending Vice President Mike Pence to the San Francisco 49ers game in Indianapolis in October 2017, all so Pence could walk out in a huffy stunt. Had NFL owners so fearful of his fiery Twitter finger they drafted a policy — eventually tabled — requiring players on the field to stand for the national anthem.
